Eleven Human Genomes Sequenced, assembled in nine days
Just three years after their first successful experiment, UCSC researchers were able to accurately and precisely assemble individual, near-complete human genomes from scratch, in about six hours for ~ $70 of cloud computing time, using portable, long-read, nanopore technology.
The investigators hope their assembler will open opportunities in genomics, including enabling pangenome research to represent the true scale of human diversity.
